A Simulation-Assisted Teaching Practice: Teaching AC Variable Speed Systems Using Simulation Models Library

Different modulation modes of PWM technology and inverters can be selected for different types the motors, a variety AC variable frequency speed system structures also derived based on same control principle. So it brings great challenge to teaching systems. We have identified four factors that hinder students’ learning in this topic: 1) abstraction mathematical logic behind theory; 2) complexity structures; 3) diversity implementation methods; 4) lack motivation explore more engineering applications due boring textbook contents. To facilitate inspire student learning, we developed an innovative way teach Variable Speed Systems course using simulation models library.
